Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

It's an old real estate adage that the kitchen and bathroom are the most important parts of the home. With that in mind it's essential to consider the layout and practicality of your own kitchen. Is it outdated? Is it functional? From basics such as layout, appliances, productivity and use of space, to more subjective choices like colours and handles - the decisions can seem endless.

At this point the skills of a certified kitchen designer should not be overlooked. Their expertise and specialised knowledge will eliminate any costly mistakes and provide you with a set of plans custom designed for your cooking and entertainment needs. With a full design and colour consultancy service available at Beaver Kitchens, they can help make any decisions you have to make, a little easier.

Conception to Construction

After your initial phonecall, one of our designers will visit your home. This is a perfect time to discuss your needs and requirements. Having taken all the necessary measurements your designer will come up with working drawings specific to your kitchen design. Although quotes are free of charge there is a design fee payable for this set of professional working drawings which will include elevations, layout and specification sheet. However should you wish to use Beaver Kitchens as your kitchen manufacturer the design fee will be deducted from the price of your kitchen. A comprehensive package will be sent with your quote detailing prices, materials and workmanship guarantees. Once accepted a confirmation pack will be sent out. This includes a confirmation letter, an introductory letter from your personal cabinetmaker, a checklist detailing materials and appliances, a contract and a deposit invoice. Construction begins once the checklist has been completed. You will be kept informed of progress and are welcome to visit the factory whilst your kitchen is in construction. We guarantee installation will begin on the date agreed to and should take no more than four working days. To ensure continuity installation will be carried out by the same cabinet maker who built your kitchen.

Materials and Suppliers

Granite, timber, laminate - the benchtop choices may seem endless. It's not just a matter of taste, but also a matter of budget. Near the top of the price range is granite. Extremely durable, granite withstands high temperatures and is very resistant to absorption and scratching.

Man made granite alternatives are also available. Caesar Stone is a 91-95% quartz-based product with outstanding properties ensuring ease of maintenance and the longevity of your surface. Corian is an advanced blend of natural materials and pure acrylic polymer that can be coloured, textured, formed and sculptured into anything you can imagine.

The warmth and beauty of timber may appeal to some, and thanks to the innovative approach by Kings Generation IV, our timber top suppliers, we can offer a benchtop that is as durable as it is stunning.

For those looking for a more affordable alternative laminate is a popular choice. Formica, the best known NZ brand offers a huge range of colour and pattern choices.

When it comes to cabinetry the choices continue. From Melteca, a very economic option with a tough melamine surface, ideal for young families, to the smooth edged look of a painted or lacquer kitchen. From there you can look at a beautiful timber veneer or a solid timber kitchen of your choice.
